"I started writing poems when I was around 12 years old, though undoubtedly the first one wasn't very good. But I aspired to be better and each poem I wrote made me feel whole as a person. Writing makes me feel like a complete person. When a week goes by and I don't write, I feel incomplete, empty, blah, and unspecial. I have recently begun to write fiction, but poetry is my first passion as it always has been. Currently, I am working on a novel that follows the theme of mental illness. Aside from writing, I am a psychiatric nursing student and a health care worker at a forensic psychiatric hospital. I enjoy working in the mental health field and plan to pursue that as a career, however writing is my first passion and something I plan to never give up. I find much inspiration from my work, but also from life, from nature, from philosophy and the passion that writing brings me itself. I love animals and currently live with my 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 4 degus." - Lindsey Webster

"A short poem I wrote about a bat who ate lamingtons when I was 8 was my introduction to the world of fiction writing. The fact that it got published in the school newsletter made me want to write more and to this day, I still get excited seeing my name and my words in print. I am currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English and History and upon the completion of this, I plan to undertake a Graduate Diploma of Journalism so that I can put the Arts degree to practical use and follow my passion for writing professionally. At some point, I'd like to start writing Regency- and Victorian-era historical romances novels for Avon, my favourite publishing house. My literary heroes include Georgette Heyer, Colette, George Orwell, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, Julia Quinn and Eloisa James." - Meaghan van Loenen
